Information About Showell's Media Center

Your school library website offers both printed and eBook titles.

  1. Printed Titles

  2.

  3. The Catalog tab is the search engine for printed books on our shelves. Search the catalog for titles, authors and subjects you are interested in. You may write down the call number (call #) for anything you hope to check out and look for it on your scheduled media day. Availability for titles may change. Plan to browse for other books if your selections are unavailable on your media day. Often times the call # leads us to other titles of interest on the same shelf. Book displays and peer suggestions can also inspire other good reads!

  4.

  5. Wondering about book returns? All books are due back 1 week after checkout, except for Chapter books (spine label "FIC...") which are due back in 2 weeks. Students may renew books by bringing them to media class instead of returning them in the drop box. When carried to their scheduled media time, students may ask for that book to be scanned again and it will count as their choice for the day. Students from PreK4 - 1st grade choose one book a week and students in 2nd to 4th grade choose two books a week. PreK-3 is unique in that their class time is activity-based.

  6.

  7. Check your Class Dojo stories for a flyer announcing your child's media day of the week. It was sent in September. While media days are a fixed day of the week, you might notice books coming home on a different day when an expected or unexpected closing occurs. There are no late fees. Clear your child's account by returning extra titles or overdue titles the next day they attend school. Book returns can arrive any day of the school week. Thank you.

If a title asks you to log-in, reach out to Mrs. McCabe by phone call to learn how your child can log-in to read that eBook title.
